Incredible India - Life everywhere !!!

I was looking into my archives and came across these lovely pictures which I shot in Mumbai when I was there in June 2006. Life exemplifies at every nook and corner of this wonderful country.

Children playing in the outskirts of the city. Somewhere on the way to Kalyan.

Near a railway crossing in Kalyan. The Mumbai local is so busy all through the day and is the lifeline for commuting across the city and suburbs for the common man.

An early morning on a rainy monsoon day in Fort Area.

One of the ever busy railway stations. Ironically exactly a little after a month I was here, terror and tragedy struck on the Mumbai local trains claiming hundred of lives.

High Spirits !!!

Ahh there is nothing like having a drink at the end of hard day at work or study. A picture I took in the midnight over some drinks and mouth watering juicy chicken with a friend. By the way we grilled the chicken ourselves. Having a laptop by the side with access to the inter-net is bliss.

I have caught a fancy for Gin, nowadays. Adding a few drops of lemon juice or sprite to negate the strength makes it all the more better.

Fuelling Time !!!

In India there are people who work in Petrol / Diesel bunks whose job is to refuel the vehicles according to the customers requirement.

Here in America atleast in Caliornia you do the fueling yourselves. Payment is done using credit / debit card. There are counters if you need to pay by cash.

Most of the times there are long lines during the peak hours. A shot I took while fueling my car.

I believe the gas prices have soared enormously. From 70 cents to a gallon to between 1-2.25 dollars and now to 3 dollars 10 cents a gallon, its a considerable change. It makes me ponder a while before I get a full tank everytime :)

Backyard Lilies

Lilies in my sisters backyard. Took around 2 months to show up. Presents a lovely sight for the eye. Thank you mom for planting them :)

Rainy Days !!!

It has been raining here regularly this month and the mountains in the valley are turning green. These are some shots of my University from under the umbrella.

When it pours heavily , vehicle speeds on the free ways are below the usual speed limits as the roads tend to get slippery and the road view becomes blur due to huge spray of water on the wind shields. I enjoy my time behind the wheel when it rains.

Dollar Dreams !!!

When it comes to currencies of the world it is the Dollar which rules over the others, atleast until now. Earning in Dollars will give anyone the opportunity to fulfill his dreams. It might be travelling the world or any desire like that.

This picture was result of the accumulated metal currency over the years. Transactions in America are not rounded off to the nearest Dollar. Instead they go to the accuracy of a single cent. Hence there is lot of change which accumulates in every house.

Bridging the Gap

This was taken during the evening drive to San Francisco a day prior to the 2008 New years eve. I missed the DSLR which is at present freezing life in Bangalore.

The famous Golden Gate Bridge from the Vista View Point.

San Francisco Fireworks !!!

Here are 8 Pictures, each for every year of the new millenium so far. This time I got the opportunity to welcome the New Year with thousands of revellers in San Francisco. I was in the company of one of my good friend. It reminded me of the Bangalore Revelry a couple of years back.

I have read that a lot of time (months) , efforts (team of hundreds of men) and money (thousands of dollars) goes behind these visual stimulators which last for just about 10 - 20 minutes.

An interesting information which I got is that all these various fireworks are networked before the show using computers and on the day of the show they are triggered by the press of a single button, to achive the brilliant Pyrotechnics and the flawless Synchronisation.

Watching these fireworks light up the black night sky as they erupt into an evanescent red chrysanthemums is an experience one would cherish for ever.

As the display ends the hoards of revellers who are in high spirits head back to party. There is not an inch available in the Market Street as the people walk shouting in excitement greeting one another.

Happy New Year 2008 !!!!

Festive Glitter !!!

The Vesona Park in Los Gatos, Santa Clara is transformed into a fantasy of thousands of colorful twinkling lights and many animated displays, every year in time for the Christmas and the New year. I was visiting the 9th Annual event. More Info

Most of the visitors enjoy the lights from the warm confines of their cars. Hence the shaky pictures here due to the movement. Click Here for related My YouTube Video

The Dinosaur Den was enhanced with recorded sounds.

There were some spectacular Animations too.

Christmas Time

Festive time !!! The Christmas decorations of the homes in Palo Alto is supposed to be one of the best in the Bay area. It is wonderful experience to switch off the headlights and drive slowly through the splendidly decorated localities. Even better if you take a walk in the chill December atmosphere under the gaze of the dazzling lights and the twinkling stars.
