Airavatha

Shot inside the Airavatha Volvo Bus on my way back to Bangalore from Tirupathi with a group of friends in July 2007. It is a pleasure travelling in these buses which is a part of the high end luxury fleet of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The Airavatha buses are air-conditioned and semi-sleeper. The comfort and the plush interiors along with audio and video facility makes it a pleasant experience.

To give an Idea of the performance this beauty cruises at speeds of 100 - 120 Kmph on the Indian Highways. The speed cannot be gauged while sitting inside. It feels like you are travelling at 50-60 Kmph, but in reality the speed is almost double. Also the breaking system and the shocks are exceptional. Ordinary KSRTC buses take about 5 1/2 - 6 hours to reach Tirupathi while the Airavatha Volvo cruises in around 4 - 4 1/2 hours. This tells the story.

I spotted this lorry carrying a huge tubular structure on the Hebbal Ring Road. The drivers spend weeks together on the roads. The lorries are their homes on wheels. This was shot in December of 2004.

State Central Library

This is one building which cannot be missed when travelling through the Cubbon Park Road in Banaglore. My father started his career as a Librarian in this very office sometime in 1968. This library retains its old time charm even now, when most of the libraries around are getting computerized.

The Big Banyan !!!

As huge and wide a Banayan tree can get. This was shot in MV Layout somewhere in the Magadi road on the outskirts of the Bangalore city, sometime in February 2005.

This is easily the widest tree I have seen so far. Compare this with the other
Banyan trees I have shot. Also in picture is the grand old Ambassador Car which my Dad had purchased in 1986. Sadly we foolishly gave away this car for a small amount in the year 2005. I am to be blamed for it.

Pet Care

The Hebbal Veterinary College/Hospital with the prominent clock tower is one of the popular buildings near my house. The Veterinary College is located in the Hebbal University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) campus. I have and will have a lot of beautiful memories of this campus.

The Engine Coach

It was in the end of year 2004. That was a time when I had just got hold of a Sony DSC P100 and was in the experimentation mode.

On my way back from office, I entered the Bangalore Railway Station at 8 in the night. I was wandering around the station for quite some time and went inside one of the train engines as I was curious to see how it looked like. I had caught a fancy for running trains although virtually, thanks to the Microsoft Train Simulator which is a wonderful simulation game.

I ended up exploring the different controls and also clicked a few snaps. Thankfully I did not try to operate the controls :) I found out later that it was illegal to click photographs inside the engines of Indian Railways. I was questioned by some Railway Police Constables. After knowing my harmless intentions, I was let off.
