Chand Chupa Badal Mein

Chand Chupa Badal Mein, Sharma Ke Meri Jaana ,
Seene Se Lag Ja Tu, Bal kha Ke Meri Jaana,
Gumsum Sa Hai, Gupchup Sa Hai
Madhosh Hai,Khamosh Hai,
Haan Ye Sama, Haan Ye Sama Kuch Aur Hai,
Han Han Han Chand Chupa

Nazdikiyan Badh Jaane De,
Arre Nahin Baba Nahin, Abhi Nahin Nahin Nahin,
Door Se Hi Tum Jee Bhar Ke Dekho, Tum Hi Kaho Kaise Door Se Dekhoon,
Chaand Ko Jaise Dekhta Chakor Hai,
Aye, Gumsum Sa Hai, Ye Sama Kuch Aur HaiHo Ho Ho,
Chand Chupa Badal Mein

The Villlage - Byrapatna

Top Drive Getaway

April 22 2005 - Mahaveer Jayanthi. It was an optional holiday. I decided to avail it n head of to my first long journey in my car. I was yet to decide where to go. There were two options.
[1] To go to Nandi hills with my 12th standard friends.
[2] To head to my granny's place with my neighbour.
Due to various reasons I decided to execute plan [2].
At 9 AM sharp left home with my friend Srinivas in my esteem n took the Mysore road highway towards Chennapatna ' The town of wooden toys '. I was apprehensive about driving in the highway. Was told by a friend to follow the three basics in highway driving. Not to drive too slow, to be very steady, never overlap the lanes. The journey throughout was superb. Cannot describe in words. Have to be there to feel the thrill. The Bangalore - Mysore highway is being converted to four lanes n the work is in its final stages. Some stretches of the highway was too good where we could zoom at close to 100 kmph n some were just the reverse . All in all it was an experience worth remembering as it was my first.
This one was shot on the way to my granny's farm, on reaching the village Byrapatna ( in Chennapatna Taluk )

Village Temple

This is one of the oldest temples in my village. This one was used in the classic Kannada serial ' Griha Banga ' which was produced by the late actress Soundarya.

Engrossed in Work

We decided to take a stroll around the village. I came across this old goldsmith who was so engrossed in the work he was doing, that he was ignorant of the fact that I was capturing his picture.

Field View

Away from the vehicles n the pollution of the city. A refreshing view to the eyes.

Battlefield

The two young goats engaged in a tussle. Competition exists everywhere, be it humans or animals. Darwin's theory - Survival of the fittest.

Big Banyan Tree

The big banyan tree with its numerous roots dropping down to the ground. This is one of the oldest n the most famous trees in my village.

The Guide

The old man guiding the goats back home.

Attacking Mood

Elastic body... The pussy in an attacking mood

The Garrage

A simple garage to park the bullock cart. Neat !!

Effortless

My cousin Srinivasa on his way up to get some tender coconuts. Its a natural education which comes inborn to the people brought up in villages to climb a tree n to do many other innumerable things which many of us cant imagine to do.

Down Under

Taken from under a coconut tree. The result was spectacular. I have never seen a picture like this before. What do you think?

Cucumber Fields

My granny's cucumber fields. We refreshed ourselves with cool farm fresh cucumbers, as it was a very hot day.

Into the Mountains

This is the same railway track near my grandmothers coconut grove where I had shot a picture of an approaching train sometime in Jan 2005. The geometrically near perfect straight tracks presents a good view.

Black n White

The pair which is so opposite to each other yet complement one another very well. My cousin domesticates over a hundred pigeons. This one was taken just outside his house.

Life goes on .....

She came into my life
like a speck of light in a dark tunnel.
Blessed with talent in abundance
n attitude alongside.

A spark kindled in my mind
by the girl of my dreams
Blazed into a big forest fire
Fuel added by the mind
which has the speed of the wind

I dared to tell her my mind

without realizing it was just once we had met
Scared the hell out of her.
Accompanying this was a thunderstorm huge
thus died the flames of imagination
and the forest of mind submerged in darkness

In Conversation

Ants are one of the busiest and hard working creatures. Wonder what these two are telling each other ?

Grandi Flora

A macro which I took in the garden located outside my mothers office.
University of Agricultaral Sciences [UAS], G.K.V.K. Campus, Bangalore

Seasonal Best

I remember, as kids we used to use the petals of this flower to decorate the finger nails and scare each other. There were numerous trees of this kind - dont know its name, all around the UAS campus. When the flowers are in full bloom the entire tree looks a brilliant red and its a sight to be rejoiced.

Nature's Canvas

Four of my frens n me hit the pub on saturday night n had a rollicking time To get over from the previous nights hangover I left home at 3-30 PM for photography. Wandered around the campus capturing many things ranging from ant hills, railway tracks, flowers, trees n ants. But what I was waiting was for the sunset. Finally when it was time for the sun to retire for the day, the sky was covered with clouds n alas I coulnt witness a clear perfect sunset. I was very lucky enough to capture this snap which came out very well in the end. The numerous hues n variations of the colour Yellow, with the sky as the canvas. Amazing indeed, the ways of nature.

Aging - A Sure Phenomena

Aging...... charcterised by loss of hair, wrinkles n almost a complete makeover. The human body is such that there is continous steady change all through beginning from birth n death. We fail to notice this change happening to us, unless told by another person who sees us after a long period. I wanted to study this phenomena of aging . I decided to use my dear dad n mom in my study. The changes introduced by age over a period of 32 years is very obvious to the naked eye. As some great person had said one has to learn to ' age with grace '

Uncanny Resemblance ! Is it so ?

They say that there are seven others for each person in this world who bear atleast a lil resemblance to one another. For god or in a more logical way for Science ( genes ) to create roughly around 650 crore unique human beings - population as of now, it must be one helluva work. By the way if ur wondering who the individuals in the picture are , on the left Karthik L G, Software Engineer, Accenture - on the right Lakshmipathy Balaji, Fast Bowler, Indian Cricket Team

Fruit Punch - Russel Market

This was shot during one of my lunch break outings in Shivaji Nagar.

© JANAKI MURALI, Deccan Herald, Monday, June 28, 2004

One of the oldest markets in Bangalore, Russell Market was built around 1927 and its clientele included English memsahibs who were driven in their horse drawn carriages to source their vegetables and meat for their kitchens. Even today, several restaurants in the City source their vegetables from Russell Market. I met a German restaurateur in Tiruvanamalai who said he drove down every weekend in his station wagon to Bangalore to buy vegetables for the week from Russell Market. He runs ' Ushas ', a quaint vegetarian restaurant in Tiruvanamalai, that dishes up continental fare for its largely western clientele that comes to the neighbouring Ramana Ashram.
Some of the rarest, exotic vegetables, fruits and flowers can be found in Russell Market. For example, red jalapenos, red cabbage, artichokes, celery, broccoli, water cress, avocados, kiwis, gladioli, tulips, exotic roses etc.

Fernando

This is Fernando, my project manger from the US during his Bangalore visit.

Ambedkar

The father of the Indian Constitution - B R Ambedkar outside the Vidhan Soudha.

Kempe Gowda

Kempe Gowda - The architect of Bangalore in Lal Bagh. He lived in the 15th century. He installed four towers in Bangalore , which was supposed to be the boundary of the city. One of which is in Lal Bagh. But the city has grown so humongously beyond these towers, that there is a joke saying that if Kempe Gowda was to be reborn again, he would suffer a heart attack. Co-incidentally my grandfather too shares the same name Kempe Gowda.

Whistling Away

This railway crossing was just a lil distance away from my grandmothers coconut grove [ Byrapatna Village , Chennapatna - Town of Toys ] The train coming in full speed looks like it will jut out of the snap in a few moments.

Twin Towers

The St.Philomenas Church in Mysore. I was surprised to see the moon out [ In between the towere ] so soon in the afternoon.

Craftsmanship

This was in a Sandalwood Handicrafts Emphorium in Mysore. The finishing n the details with which the artisans have worked is very commendable. This one cost around 4 grand.

Orange Ball

This was from Lalitha Mahal Palace, Mysore. The dry thorny plants adds to the beauty of the sunset.

Chamundi Betta

It was dark around , with very poor visibility. I created this effect by increasing the shutter speed and the apperture. The chamundi betta is a hill located in Mysore. it is a very famous spot.

Crash into me

Taken early in the morning from outside The Ooty Grand Hotel.I kept the tripod in the middle of the road n shot this. It seems the bus is almost about to crash into you. The backdrop n the mist present a good view.

Photography Strictly Prohibited

This was taken from inside the train. Infact this was not planned. I realised this was a non photographic spot only later in my house. Turned out to be a good snap.

Vision Captured

This was from inside the train which took us from Ooty all the way down to Coonor. The ride was very scenic. I visualised this photograph as a view through the girls eyes. The tea estate below present a pleasant view. Wonder if they are of the person I came to know recently.

Udhagamandalam

Fabulous view of Ooty. Amazing how so much life exists on the mountains.

Dare to drive ?

Ooty ghat section. This route goes directly inside the bandipur forest. The roads were full of twists n curves. I wanna go in my esteem to Ooty soon. It will be realised shortly.

Reflection

This one was taken somewhere in Mysore on my way back from ooty it was taken from inside a Ford Ikon moving at 120 kmph. High speed photography.

Sankey Tank - Sunset

On my drive back home, I captured the sunset over sankey tank

Synchronised Dance

Another Exhibition in Palace grounds by name Harsha Kala Mela. How talented human beings are !!

The Forum Mall

Bangalore is starting to devolop the mall culture.Entrepreneurs are captilising on people's craze and are minting money like anything. The Forum is full of people almost everytime and in the weekends it reaches the peak. Ironically the day I shot this photo, very close by Tsunami had claimed into it thousnads of people. People here were ignorant of this fact n proceeding as if nothing had happened . Ignorance is Bliss .. is it?

Eat the music

One of the exhibition in Palace Grounds by name Food Expo. You will be surprised to know that this is a Cake

Its cold here

This was at a dog show held in palace grounds. I was on my way to office on a sunday n just dropped by where I came across this cute looking pup. My family has a history of keeping dogs as pets. The dogs we had in chronological order : Daschund - Mini, Boxer - Pouline of Elpasso aka Rinki, Cocker Spaniel - Princess, Doberman - Kala, Labrador cross with a street dog - Laaloo, Daschund - Browny , my present dog since Jan 2000.

Whats up there ?

My niece Aishwarya, caught in my camera as soon as she was out from bed. Kids these days r so lucky. I have spent 22 yrs of my life withouth travelling out of South India. On the other hand Aish , within two summers of her life has already travelled to Malasyia n Singapore.

Xmas Decoration

The xmas decoration in my school chapel. Having studied in a convent for four years, the christmas festivities was a part of December month every year. I thought lemme visit my school this year . Caught up with many sisters who have dedicated thier whole lives for service n education. It was a nice feeling.

White Lotus

If I remember right the day was Nov 27 2004. It was just a fortnight since I had got my Camera. I set out on this day for a photo shoot on my bike. Left home in the morning n by the time I returned home had roamed almost all round Bangalore. This one was in the Lal Bagh botanical garden. Id never come across a white lotus, which caught my eye.

Vidya Niketan

I did my schooling from class 5 to 10 in Vidya Niketan. It is a very chilled out, posh and sophisticated school which has thought me many a thing. I owe my communication skills to this school in general and my English teachers Mrs Lalitha Desikan, Mrs Rajkumari Bopanna and Mrs Uma Khanna in particular. The school is situated not so far away from the city in the cool countryside environs of Kempapura. I owe a lot to this school.

Stella Maris

Stella Maris - This was my school where I studied from 1988 to 1992. The school where I spent my initial years of education. It just seems yesterday when I gave my fourth standard final exam. The 1992 World Cup cricket was going on in Australia and all of us were following it meticulously irrespective of the exams. Fast Forward to 2004. It was 12 years since I had been inside my school. Had never paid a visit since 1992. It was by sheer accident that I came to know that an alumini meet would be held on Dec 18. I thought this would be the right opportunity n went there with one of my friend n co student Manjunath. On visiting the school and walking through the grounds n corridors, my mind was flooded with memories of my school days. It was very nostalgic indeed and I throughly enjoyed it to the core.

Lal Bagh - Republic Day

Every year on the Republic Day - Jan 26, Lal Bagh has the tradition of organising a Flower Show which is world famous and flocked by people from all round. Actually it starts a couple of days before the Republic Day n culminates on this day. Lal Bagh is huge botanical garden in the midst of the city which has a humongous number of trees. Being in Bangalore all my life from the last 22 years, I had never been to this famed flower show on this day. So made it a point to be there this year. My friend Harsha n me finally made it to the famous Lal bagh flower show which was flooded with a sea of humanity. The tower or the gopuram which is seen in the picture is one of the four towers which is found in bangalore which was erected by the Legendary Kempe Gowda.

Kemp Fort

A huge idol of shiva inside the Kemp Fort. It is thronged with devotees almost all the time. I dont understand the reason why people have to go only to the so called places of worship to offer thier prayers to the god. Isnt he omnipresent? My belief is to be good to others , which will automatically appease the almighty. Whats the point in offering a hundred coconuts and harrassing a poor man ?
